Karl is a professional artist specialising in portraiture through painting and drawing. His work has been exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery, the Royal Academy, the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, the Royal Society of Marine Artists, Southampton City Art Gallery and the National Galleries of Scotland. It resides in the Portsmouth City Museums collections, Portsmouth Football Club and the Royal Navy commissioned for the 75 years D-Day commemorations 2019.
His work is also featured in the book 500 portraits: BP Portrait Award by Sandy Nairn published by the National Portrait Gallery.

Though Karl, takes on commissions the main focus of his work is through outreach and education. He holds regular portrait painting workshops, painting demonstrations and talks throughout the year. Previous community projects have been funded by Arts Council England and Portsmouth City Council called We Don’t Need Culture, where his work is on permanent display at Somerstown Community Hub and Paulsgrove community centre Paulsgrove, both in Portsmouth.
